This site has been hosted by National Semiconductor for the purpose of supporting a consortium development model for Mobile Pixel Link (MPL).

MPL is a light weight communication protocol and physical interface for use within a mobile handheld device environment. Typical applications include the interface to small displays, cameras and image processing functions in cellular handsets, electronic organizers, personal digital assistants, tablets and personal entertainment devices.

On 21-January-2004, National Semiconductor announced the availability of a first generation open specification, MPL Level-0, and sample availability of two support ICs.  At that time we also announced that National Semiconductor's intention was to support the development of camera, display and other peripheral device communication standards within the Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) Alliance.

MPL has been submitted as raw material for the support of these MIPI interfaces and interconnect standards1.  Further development work in these areas will be supported fully by National Semiconductor within the MIPI Alliance.

Further information on MPL is available at www.national.com/appinfo/mpl

1 No claim is implied that any part of MPL would be used in any future MIPI Standard.
